KENNETT - The Sikeston soccer team evened its record at 9-9-1 on the season with a 9-0 shutout at Kennett on Thursday.

Sikeston's Blake Taylor came within one goal of tying a school record by scoring five goals in the game.

Senior teammate J.R. Bizzell holds the school record with six goals. Adam Garrett also scored five goals in a game.

"He seemed to be in the right place all day today," said Sikeston coach Derrick Long. "Bizzell had three assists on them. It seemed like every timed we'd make a run, somebody would go at the keeper and then pop it out to Blake and he was there every time. He seemed like he was doing everything tonight. It was fun watching them. I'm excited that Blake is coming into his own. Being only a sophomore, we can ride him for two more years."

Taylor scored the Bulldogs' first four goals of the game. Bizzell scored two goals and also tallied three assists.
