Peggy French

CHARLESTON - Peggy Ann Nelson French, 51, died at 7:30 a.m. Dec. 17, 2007, at her home.

Born Oct. 31, 1956, in Marion, Ohio, to Sally L. Stillman Nelson of Charleston and the late Stanley L. Nelson, she was a 1975 graduate of Wilmington High School in Wilmington, Ohio. In 1977, she moved to Charleston where she worked at Brown Shoe Company and later attended and graduated from Cape Metro Business College. She then worked at Galaxy Cable in Sikeston until retiring in 2001 due to ill health. A 28-year member of the Monday Night Bowling League, she was also a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston.

On Jan. 18, 1980, she married William "Billy" G. French, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, PFC Nelson B. and Sarah French of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Tara Christine Custis of Belleville, Ill. and Lindsey Ann French of Charleston; two brothers, Michael Nelson of Evansville, Ind. and David Nelson of Greensburg, Pa.; three sisters, Kathy Davis and Kristine Roselle of Cincinnati and Jennifer Nelson of Oklahoma City; and one grandson.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Caden Chance French.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Charleston. Jim Malugen, pastor, will officiate.
