Speakout 6/29

This is about the tuna. I had the same experience as your reader, tuna was always like mush. I switched to albacore tuna. It's a little bit more expensive, but it's chunked and much better. At least you get your money's worth and it's edible.

I'm calling in reference to the article that was in SpeakOut on Friday that said they were going to find somebody's body dumped in the pond. I believe who ever put that in SpeakOut had something to do with it, because that sure was a big coincidence that it happened like it did. They either did it or they know who did and just wanted somebody to find her. Okay?

I live in the Sikeston area and if you are like me, I'm tired of every time I flush my toilet or turn on the faucets, there's brown water. This has been going on for two weeks. I called the water company and they assured me that I could drink it. Now you may want to drink or cook with brown water, but I'll buy the bottled water. But, if you go to do your laundry you'll find that your clothes turn a terrible rust color. Therefore, I am not paying my water bill. I suggest the rest of the Sikeston people not pay theirs for the month. I have had to go out and buy extra detergents to clean my clothes that have now turned an ugly rust color. You may want to wear rusty colored clothes. I don't like my sheets, under garments or uniforms to be rust colored. Something should be done about this. I think the water company should give us a rebate for the extra detergents we have had to buy and everything. And if you drink the brown water can you imagine what it is doing to your system? I am a very concerned citizen of Sikeston.

The city of Sikeston announced in advance they would be flushing the hydrants. On the annual report, just issued, Sikeston has some of the highest quality water supply in the state.

I was calling in about the government disability checks. I just wondered why the government is letting people draw disability and they can go out and play games and everything like that. Some of them lay around and they drink and wait until their check comes in. Then they go out and they drink some more. I don't think it's right for us taxpayers to go out and work 5-6 days a week to keep them a place to live and everything the way they drink. I would really love to know why they are letting these drunks, the way they go out and gamble their money away and don't have enough hold over, living month to month, draw disability?

Mike and Don, I would like to ask a question if you can find out. Two Mexican men just bought $347 worth of food at a grocery store I'm at right now with a food stamp card from Missouri and neither one of them could speak English. They sat there and bobbed their heads up and down when the lady talked to them. Now how are there United States citizens starving over here and we can't get help and they can come over here and not even speak our language and get over $300 worth of food? I know that's what it is because my best friend's sister has one of those cards. That's a bunch of bull crap!

The Sunset Area Youth Leaders are getting together to have a baseball game to encourage our youth in the community there are better things to do than walk our streets. We are in need of baseball bats, gloves and balls. Some of our children have never played baseball. Help us help our children do something positive. If you have old bats, gloves and balls, or would like to volunteer, please call Miss Micah at 380-0176.
