BLOOMFIELD -- Charles William "Bill" Poeppelmeyer, 71, died July 9, 2005, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.

Born Sept. 17, 1933, in East Prairie, he had spent most of his life in the Bloomfield community where he was a retired farmer and restaurant owner. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of the VFW, AMVETS, Stars and Stripes and the Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield.

Survivors include: one son, Charles Poeppelmeyer Jr. of Dexter; and two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Two brothers, Robert Poeppelmeyer and James Poeppelmeyer; and three sisters, Pauline Poeppelmeyer, Ellen Fleurdelys and Mary Miller, preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Revs. Ron Webb and David Hardin will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Stoddard County Honor Guard.
