Three in custody for theft

CARUTHERSVILLE - An investigation into a suspicious vehicle led officers to the discovery of the theft of auto parts.

About 2 a.m. Sunday, Pemiscot County deputies spotted a vehicle parked at the bottom of the levee behind Bob Churchill Motors Used Car on Highway 84 in Caruthersville. When deputies observed the driver climbing the levee, they stopped him at the intersection of Truman Boulevard and Highway 84.

Through their investigation, deputies learned a theft of parts had taken place from several difference vehicles on used car lots. Deputies recovered the stolen property and took a 17-year-old male from Caruthersville into custody along with two males, ages 15 and 16, from the Caruthersville area. The vehicle was impounded.

The two juveniles were interviewed and turned over to juvenile authorities.

The 17-year-old is being held in the Pemiscot County Jail on charges of tampering with a motor vehicle and stealing. His name was being withheld pending the filing of formal charges.
