DEXTER - Arvel N. Menley, 88, died March 19, 2006, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare Facility.

Born April 23, 1917, in Stoddard County, son of the late Henry Everet and Sarah Ellen Leffel Menley, he had lived all his life in Southeast Missouri. He had worked as a farmer and at Swift's Poultry Plant in Dexter.

On March 3, 1954, in New Madrid, he married Wilda Mae Horn who preceded him in death on June 17, 2005.

Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Patty Thomason; one brother, Lester Menley; and two sisters, Evelyn Menley and Martha Bell Osloske.

Survivors include: one son, Glennon Menley of Lebanon; four daughters, Evelyn Boyt, Cathy Smith and Joan Espada of Dexter and Wilma Rodgers of Sikeston; one sister, Dorothy Peterson of Rock Island, Ill.; and 16 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday with Dale Grissom of Dexter officiating.

Burial will follow in the Triplett Cemetery near Dexter.
