BERNIE -- Vernon P. Teeters, 84, died Aug. 1, 2005, at his home in Bernie.

Born March 29, 1921, at Leachville, Ark., son of the late Jacob A. and Cora Herring Teeters, he was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Word War II. He had been a salesman during his life and was a member of the Sunnyvale General Baptist Church of rural Malden and The Gideons International.

On July 5, 1941, in Bloomfield, he married Verna C. Clubb, who preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 1998.

Also he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Teeters of Savannah, Tenn., and David Teeters of Bernie; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Bernie, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will follow in the Bernie Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Missouri Funeral Honor Guard.
