DEXTER - Gladys Irene Heflin Rowland, 82, died Dec. 28, 2007, at the Golden Living Center in Dexter.

Born Oct. 27, 1925, in Dunklin County, daughter of the late Abe and Pricilla Green Brotherton, she had been employed with Elders in Dexter. She was a member of the Second General Baptist Church and its Quilting Club and the Dexter Bowling Team.

On Nov. 15, 1941, at Bloomfield, she married Glen Heflin, who preceded her in death on Jan. 18, 1982. She then married Alfred Rowland on Jan. 26, 1986, in Dexter, and he preceded her in death on June 9, 1995.

One brother, Glen Brotherton; one sister, Grace Swift; and one half-brother, Bob Brotherton, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Jerry D. Heflin Sr. of Dexter; two sisters, Letha Clark of Flint, Mich. and Norma Moore of Dexter; one half-brother, Ray Brotherton of Marble Hill; one-half sister, JoAnn Mehas of Marble Hill; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren

Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with Dr. Vyron Yount officiating. Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
