Vacant home on Gladys was condemned; fire suspicios
SIKESTON -- Sikeston Department of Public Safety firefighters continue to investigate a Wednesday morning fire at a vacant house.
According to Sgt. Thomas Conn of DPS, firefighters were at the scene, 316 Gladys, for about an hour and a half.
"It was a contained fire," he said. What took the longest was finding the hot spot, continued Conn, which was located in the attic.
The vacant home was condemned. However, during investigation, officers learned that several children played in the home and neighbors also reported that people had possibly been sleeping in the house.
Conn said the blaze was suspicious and remains under investigation.
