Your view:What happened

Many years ago there used to be a branch of the International Order of Odd Fellows here in Sikeston, with their lodge on the second floor of the building where Patty Simmons Dance Studio is now...Do you know if the Odd Fellows are still in existence here?

I can remember about 40 years ago the Odd Fellows rented out their hall to the Northside Church of Christ, which later built a building, then North of town on Highway 61, now occupied by the 1st Church of the Nazarene.

I remember attending services in the old Odd Fellow location and was just wondering and would love to have one last look inside someday. They used to have a really neat old clock with a pendulum calibrated with liquid mercury.

Any help most appreciated.

We contacted Arthur Bruce, who was a member of the Odd Fellow Organization. He told us that when an organization dissolves, the possessions/contents of the organization become the property of the state department. There is an active chapter of the IOOF in Charleston.
