Your view: A challenge issued

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

My name is Cindy Taylor and I am the Founder/President of Sikeston Action Sports Inc and Sikeston Skate Committee we are a nonprofit organization and if you don't mind I would like to take just a minute of your and your reader's, viewer's and listener's time to ask a very important question.

How is it that a gentleman from Australia can come to Sikeston Missouri, open a new business and reacts on the importance of our youth to have a skatepark in Sikeston? This has happen; Mr. Halliday of Ace Building Systems has donated $15,000.00 towards our town having a skatepark for our youth. And I am very thankful that he has been as active and involved has he has. As well as Mr. Halliday's generous donation we have also received donations from Comstock Cycle and Jerry Pullum.

I have had several phone calls informing me on how the business's here in town do not want our youth on their property skating due to insurance, but I yet have not had a phone call informing me that they would like to donate to the park. I hear of how people want a skatepark, and that they know we need one and something should be done about it. Well I have step up to the ladder and taken full charge and I would like to put the ball back into their court and CHALLENGE every one of you here in Sikeston to match his donation or donate as much as you possibly can to the skatepark. You can do this by cash or check, payable to Sikeston Skate Committee, P.O. Box 576 Sikeston, Mo. 63801 attention Cindy Taylor or call me and I will be happy to come by and pick up your cash donation, my cell is 573-380-4189.

I know that our business community is a very generous, and all are concern with the safety of our youth. I am interested in hearing from each and every one of you. I would also be happy to come and speak to you in person, show you a presentation, answer any and all of your questions at any time.

Thank You,

Cindy Taylor
