Speakout 8/22

Wednesday, August 22, 2007

Soap Operas have never been known for their story lines of high morality, but now, CBS has taken it even lower. Evidently there has been an ongoing relationship between two young men of the homosexual nature. This event came to a high point Friday with these two men kissing. A friend told me about this and said he had contacted KFVS about the situation and was given a cold shoulder. Yesterday, the story line continued with the young men once again engaged in the same thing. Some may say, "If you don't like it, turn it off." Trust me, it's been turned off. The issue now is the impression this gives others. The homosexual way of life is being pushed on us. This is free TV, not some wild show on cable late at night. This is on in the middle of the day. What if children or any other impressionable person is in the room? Homosexuality is not an acceptable way of life. Please, if you are an advertiser, let KFVS know that this is not nor will be acceptable. The rest of us, if KFVS does not pay attention to our phone calls and e-mails, let these sponsors/advertisers now how you feel. Take a stand, let's get something done.

I no longer live in Sikeston but would like to put something into SpeakOut. My husband is in the military and is currently deployed to Iraq. My children and I were home visiting this summer and were at Aldi's looking at a rechargeable lamp for my husband and his troops. I spoke with a very nice lady there and told her why I was looking at the lamp. A few minutes later she approached me with the purchased lamp and asked me to send it to my husband. I didn't get her name, but I want her to know how much he and I appreciate her doing that. It was such a nice thing to do and it made his day. He said it is exactly what he needed. Thanks again. To the person asking about the humming birds. Yes, I have two every morning and evening come in to feed. I watch them from my kitchen window. They sure are pretty. I also have the martins and the yellow finches. Boy, are they pretty. Watch for these pretty birds next year.

I would like to speak out about our bridges in this country being in such bad shape. I think if I was president of this country I would do one little thing that they will never do. I would do away with flying to the moon or outer space and put all this money on bridges down here where we need it. And that's the way I think it should go.
