Call 471-6636

This is to the person who wants people to move back to Lilbourn. I have a free lot that I will give to anybody that wants to move to Lilbourn. All you got to do is leave your name in SpeakOut and I will give you this lot.

I hired someone from an ad in your paper to do some work for me. I was under the impression that if they made a mess and got paint all over everything, they was supposed to clean it up. I've been working over a week getting paint off my furniture and stuff. You might tell them that goes along with the job.

On Dec. 29, Channel 40 had this outrageous trash on TV. The models showed no shame. They showed their whole naked behind, a little string in crotch for bikini, scarcely no bra. Boobs, butts and crotches - very, very vulgar. Boobs from size of oranges to footballs. This is not Adam and Eve era. The models showed no shame. Girls were kissing and drinking alcohol, some drunk. Vulgar dancing. This is awful for any age children to watch. It was daytime TV. What is it going to take to get this off TV?

To the poor employee that was not treated well at Christmas time, I feel so sorry for you. I'm sure all those teachers that have 20 plus students that they teach for 180 plus days, stay after school and read papers, record tests, make lesson plans, review new material, attend in-service like I do. The two occupations that are under paid are educators and police officers. Educators have the most important job educating our children. Police officers put their lives on the line to protect and serve everyday. I have family in both professions. My advice to you if you want a bonus next year, I hear SEMO is a great college.

It's the 2nd of January and the temperature is 14 degrees or less. Dogs in Sikeston must constantly be trying to figure out what kind of monster this human person is. When my dog sees other dogs in distress, he gives me this puzzled look like 'aren't you going to do something?' And I can't because I don't have the backing of my city government. I saw three dogs at least yesterday in the city limits of Sikeston, who likely are dead today. One on the street in back of Bo's Barbecue, tied in the front yard with nothing in its house to sleep in. One in a tiny pen with its house facing north, in back of Lowe's in the new subdivision. And another one without a house at all in another middle class neighborhood. Athens, Ga. has just passed a law that you can't tether a dog in your yard. Mr. Editor, if you want a progressive town like you say you do, you can't have one. Obviously Athens does not have dumb, redneck landowner types running the city government like Sikeston does.

It isn't a matter of a community choosing animals over children, protecting animals over children. Each act causing suffering has to stand alone on moral grounds. And forget the mythological, Biblical crap. Concerning man having dominion over animals in the Bible, if one wants to believe it or take it to heart, that only means that man is to preserve and take care of these creatures, not exploit them. Jesus's teaching were fine, the best in history. It's not what Jesus taught. It's what corporate American churches have turned His teachings into that's the crime. Jesus would never tolerate deliberate torture or caused suffering. He just wouldn't.
