Speakout 10/26

Thursday, October 26, 2006

I guess this message is more for City Council than anyone because they are the ones who address the issues of raises and so forth. I ran in to a man who used to be on the police force here and asked him what the problem was that we do not have the officers we need. He told me in no uncertain terms that it's because they do not get paid enough so they go after their training where they can make a living. Now, isn't that a dirty shame that we can not pay our officers enough to keep them and them are so important to us? We live in an undesirable neighborhood and the force do all they can for the manpower they have. When you are told you only have three officers on duty on Friday and Saturday nights, that is a crying shame and needs to be a priority of the City Council their next meeting. We have a wonderful chief of police now and no telling how much he would do for our city if he had enough officers. There's only so much he can do and believe me, I know from experience what he has done in one particular area and we can't thank him enough. This reminds me of people who send their money off to help people from the storms, and that is good, but it isn't good when you have need in our own city and state and it's ignored and our money is given to another cause. Our police force is head of the list to keep our city's needs first. I hope when the City Council has their next meeting our police force's salaries are on the top of their list. By the way, we are getting close to retirement, so other than plain ole concern for our city, we have nothing to gain by writing this and hopefully get an officer when needed to save our sanity. Thanks Mike, for letting us speak out.

The democrats have done everything they can do to trivialize the most cunning, the most committed and the most despicable enemy America faces today. They have diverted your eyes, ears and interest from the most important issue in the world today. They have worked tirelessly night and day to undermine an American President at a time when every American should be linked arm in arm in defense of our homeland against these barbaric murderers. There is nothing more important than protecting the American people and ensuring that we have the intelligence we need to stop attacks on our homeland. The vast majority of Democrats in Congress did not agree. Shockingly, 84 percent of the Democrats in the House voted against interrogating terrorists, as did 73 percent of the Democrats in the Senate. The Democrats who voted against this bill out of concern for terrorist civil liberties include all of their key leaders in Congress: would-be Speaker Nancy Pelosi, House Majority Leader-in waiting John Murtha and Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid. Would the Military Commissions Act have ever seen the light of day in a Democrat-led Congress? A vote for a democrat, is a vote for Muslim terrorists!
