SIKESTON - The Delta Scottish Rite Club will meet for its quarterly session at the Masonic Temple at 7:30 p.m. tonight. The speaker will be Thomas J. Davis, Piedmont insurance man.

Aug. 25, 1986

SIKESTON - John Chittenden, an associate with Waters and Associates, explained the need for a bond issue which would allow for expansion of the Board of Municipal Utilities sanitary sewer plant. Only a few citizens were present for the public hearing on the issue Monday night. Chittenden said a minimum sewer rate increase would occur if the bond issue is approved.

CHAFFEE - Chaffee R-2 School Board Thursday evening awarded a contract for a possible building project at the high school campus on North 5th Street. Contracts were awarded and signed with McLinney and Co. of Kansas City and Harold Porterfield of Poplar Bluff for work on the building project.

SIKESTON - LeRoy Bradham has his work cut out for him. As the senior mail processor of the new automated postal system he is in charge of making certain everything is up to par. The Carrier Sequence Bar Code Sorter will free up the hands of postal carriers inside the office, giving them more time to spend delivering the mail to local residents. "These new machines read addresses, they don't care about names. They sort 35,000-40,000 pieces of mail in an hour. It's like a miracle, it's just amazing to watch," said Don Knoth, postmaster. But as with anything new, the idea will take some getting used to.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston 4-H Club held their annual rodeo Saturday at the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo grounds. Seven counties participated in the rodeo for youth ages 8 to 19.
