SIKESTON -- Billy Bob Beck, 73, died Aug. 19, 2007, at the Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.

Born Oct. 31, 1933, in Matthews, son of the late Spurlin and Birdie Agnes Duke Beck Sr., he was a member of North Acres General Baptist Church. He had attended Arkansas State University at Jonesboro, Ark. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in Germany and England. He had been a custodian for Wal-Mart and Sikeston Public Schools until his retirement.

On June 5, 1962, he married Marlene Redmon, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Lenzie Allen Beck of Sikeston; three brothers, Woodrow Beck of Matthews, Spurlin Beck Jr. of Sikeston and Joe Beck of Wappapello; and three sisters, Motell Smith, Thelma McDonald and Jewel Harber, all of Sikeston.

He was preceded in death by: two brothers, Lenzie Beck and Walter Lee Beck; and three sisters, Lorene Beck, Lillie Shelby and Charlene Humphries.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. David Pringle, pastor of Light House Bible Baptist Church, and the Rev. James Trotter, former pastor of North Acres General Baptist Church, will officiate.

Burial with full military honors will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
