CHARLESTON -- Wilbur Caid, 89, died at 4:45 p.m. June 30, 2007, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

Born Aug. 9, 1917, in Leslie, Ark., to the late Cecil and Ola Branum Caid, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II, spending four years in the European Theatre. Upon his discharge, he began farming in Mountain View, Okla., then moved to Mississippi County in 1956. A member of New Bethel Baptist Church, he served there as deacon, choir member, director of training union and vacation bible school, as a sunday school teacher for junior boys and senior adults and as Sunday School superintendent for 18 years.

On Dec. 1, 1945, at Marshall, Ark., he married Marjorie Bell Rains, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: three sons, Vearl Daniel Caid of Ponca City, Okla., Earl David Caid of Panasoffkee, Fla. and Daryle Wayne Caid of Charleston; one brother, Russel Caid of Walten, Ky.; four sisters, Veda McBride of Damascus, Ark., Lillian Easterling of Little Rock, Ark., Demolee Whiddons of Houston and Eldean Posey of Choctaw, Okla; and seven grandchildren and 19 great-

grandchildren.

Ono infant sister and one brother, Lester Caid, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Wimberley of Charleston officiating.

Burial with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Brandon Caid, Darren Steele, Jay Glowacki, Larry Champlin, Aaron Champlin and Kenny Eftink.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Jeff Shoffner, Tom Glenn, Adon Cox, Martin Reinbott and Johney Shoffner.
