Speakout 4/8

As a Sikeston resident, I greatly appreciate the City Council's position on the sales tax issue. I just hope it's not too late to awaken the citizens of our sleeping city. Folks, Benton is no longer our good friend. Although I have many friends in the north end, they no longer support us in the south end of the county. We are supposed to pay while they play.

We appreciate what the city of Morley does for its residents, as far as the park and different things, but one thing that we notice that you don't do is the streets in town. They are still full of potholes. When it rains, they are full of water lying on the streets. We need to improve the streets as well as everything else.

I don't use foul language. I'm a lady and I like to treated like a lady. I tell you the past two weeks I've seen things that just make me sick. The Sons of Hollywood that's coming on TV, there's a naked man on there. I hope parents are paying attention. Our girls are walking around with shirts on that don't cover them. When they bend over you can almost see their behind. Boys have all these tattoos, now the girls are getting them. The thing that irritates the life out of me, is these young boys walk around with their pants down so low, it looks like if they'd bend over they'd fall. They look like they've got a 5-

pound sack of potatoes in their pants. I haven't forgotten what it's like to be young. I was young once and I had a lot of fun. But I never did anything to embarrass myself or my parents or my friends. I liked being treated like a lady. Most of the men here in town do treat me that way. But these young kids don't realize what they're doing. Parents you better wake up before it's too late. I know fads come along, fads come along when I was young. I didn't have sense enough to know the reason my parents wouldn't let me wear hoops was because you could see up my dress when I went up the steps. Parents, step up to the line. Quit letting your children dress like tramps or that's the way they are going to be treated. Boys, pull your pants up and act like a man and quit acting like an idiot. There's no sense in that. And throwing rocks threw windows and making noise where people can't sleep at night, that's silly. I don't know what fun they get out of it. And there's kids that won't walk on the sidewalk, they walk in the street. And you better pull around them because they won't given an inch. One of these days I'm not going to give either. I'm getting tired of it. And another thing, they're saying now you can take animals to outside restaurants now. What about people that are allergic to them? Is this fair? I don't think so. I don't have an animal and don't want one. But if I did, I wouldn't force it on everybody else. You got to stop and think about it a little bit.

I was at the Sikeston Humane Society this week, and I noticed that they are need of dog houses. If there is anyone that has a dog house that they are not using, maybe you could donate it to the shelter. I know it would be greatly appreciated. And also, if you have time and need someone to walk, please remember the dogs at the humane society. They love to go walking and it's good exercise for them and you.
