Motion denied

CHARLESTON - A Sikeston couple will be tried on charges of serving alcohol to minors.

Judge T. Lynn Brown denied a motion Monday to suppress evidence collected from two computers belonging to Mark Cheatham and Terry Brewer-Cheatham. A trial date for the couple will be set during a court appearance scheduled for 9 a.m. Jan. 30.

The Cheathams are charged with 30 counts each of supplying alcohol to minors at a graduation party they held at their home in Sikeston on May 20.

A hearing was conducted Jan. 9 seeking to throw out the evidence, including a computer data printout and an Internet invitation to the party. The couple's attorney had argued police lacked probable cause when they obtained the computer data.

Brown had taken the matter under advisement before issuing his ruling Monday.
