Portageville fire damages building

PORTAGEVILLE -- A Portageville business was damaged in a fire Wednesday evening.

According to Portageville Police Department personnel, the fire started about 5 p.m. in a two-story flea market building located at 211 E. Main St. in Portageville. The upstairs of the building was destroyed. No one was in the building at the time of the fire.

Portageville Fire Department along with Marston, Kennett and Caruthersville fire departments fought the blaze for about four hours. No one was injured while extinguishing the blaze. Cause of the fire is unknown and remains under investigation.
