Gertrude Lane
SIKESTON -- Gertrude May "Granny" Lane, 94, died at 9:40 p.m. Dec. 28, 2006, at the Miner Nursing Center in Miner.
Born March 7, 1912, near Matthews, to the late Harvey Harrison and Margaret Virginia Roark Casteel, she lived most of her life in Sikeston. She was a member of the General Baptist Church where she served in several capacities including church secretary and Sunday school teacher.
On March 22, 1928, in New Madrid, she married Rupert "Bob" Lane who preceded her in death on April 29, 2002.
One son, Ralph Edward Lane; and four brothers, seven sisters, one granddaughter and one great-grandson also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and J.O. "Johnny" McGee, Mary Lee and Bill Hailey and Barbara and Mike Bartlett, all of Sikeston; and six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, seven great-great-
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Blanchard Funeral Chapel in Sikeston where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Carl Addison and the Rev. Larry Smith, both of the Tanner Street Church of God, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery near New Madrid.
Pallbearers will be: Jim Hailey, Tim Bartlett, Bobby McGee, Steve McGee, Stephen Hailey and David Porter.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Laura Beth Jurica, Darla Tinker and Earl Wayne Morris.
