Bragg City man charged with murder
CARUTHERSVILLE - A Bragg City man is charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action in connection with a Tuesday evening shooting death.
Rickey Lee Johnson, 42, was formally charged Wednesday for the death of Jeffrey McCormick, 42.
McCormick was shot around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a Bragg City residence. He was taken to the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the stomach.
McCormick was pronounced dead just at 12:05 a.m. Wednesday by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall.
An autopsy was performed Wednesday at the Mineral Area Hospital in Farmington. It was determined McCormick died as the result of a .22 caliber gunshot wound to the abdomen.
Johnson was taken into custody by Pemiscot County deputies shortly after the shooting. According to Pemiscot County Sheriff Tommy Greenwell, Johnson was interviewed and confessed to the shooting.
Bond for Johnson is set at $110,000. He is expected to be arraigned today by Judge Byron Luber.
