Speakout 2/18

Sunday, February 18, 2007

Mike, I agree with your Sunday paper about illegal immigration problems growing. I just want to ask you a question and could you please answer it for me? I was in a store the other day and two Mexicans used a Missouri debit card and got money and stuff. And what's so bad Mike, they could not speak English. How are these people getting debit cards for cash and for food stamps when they are not citizens of the United States of America? I work for a little bit over minimum wage, but I'm still a taxpayer. How are these people getting help, medical help and everything? I have even been in the doctor's office and they have come in with a Medicaid card and they can't even speak English, Mike. How are they getting these cards through our system when us American people needs it and the disabled and senior citizens can't even get dental help through our state government? But these Mexicans who cannot even speak English is getting a debit card, food stamps and cash. Can you please answer my question? I'd like to know the truth. Can you please investigate and tell me? Thank you Mike and Don.

The Sikeston High School class of 1962, not 1961, is raising funds to put up the sign in front of the new Math and Science Center.

I am calling in regards to see if anyone recorded Friday night's Sikeston's Homecoming basketball game. And if they did, could they please contact 200-0191. I would like to have a copy of this game. I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'm calling about the person who said Republicans aren't Christians. I'm a Christian man and I am a Republican man. And they also said in their SpeakOut that anybody in their right mind knows that you don't steal from the poor and give to the rich. I think people in their right minds do it all the time.

I just wanted to comment on the recent Sikeston Bulldog victory over the Cape Central Tigers. I just wanted to congratulate all you Sikeston faithfuls for sticking with the Bulldogs this long. We've had a great run and a great year. There's been a lot of talk about how we're not up to what we were last year. And I just wanted to thank every one of you for sticking with the Bulldogs for this long. Because in about two weeks, Notre Dame is going to come into the Sikeston Field House and beat Sikeston. And I just wanted everyone to know that we need to savor this moment.

I wanted to speak out on the fact that restaurants are dirty, especially in this area. I agree with whoever wrote in about Closing the coop in SpeakOut, about if how Colonel Sanders were alive today how he would take care of closing the restaurants. I recently visited a fast food restaurant in Sikeston that was probably the dirtiest restaurant I have ever been in. Something needs to be done in this area. It's not just one, it's several. They need to be cleaned up. Whoever is inspecting these restaurants, when I walk in there and see these little A-plus stickers, they are doing a very horrible job. They need to be fired and replaced.
