Your view: Giving thanks

Thursday, November 30, 2006

Thanksgiving Day 2006, I was privileged to have coordinated the community Thanksgiving meal feeding approximately 600 people. Over 500 of those meals were delivered into the community. The volunteers who helped me were a fantastic group of people who worked tirelessly to see that the meals were prepared, served and delivered in a timely fashion.

Those who heeded the call for donations responded with enthusiasm and abundance. The community churches once again outdid themselves as did the organizations, merchants and individuals.

The blessings touched both the givers and the receivers in ways that only they can describe and I am sure the glow of those blessings will last for days.

My special thanks go out to all those individuals, organizations, merchants and churches who responded to our needs. We couldn't have done this without the help of each and every person involved, especially Linda Bollinger, Steve Morris, Beverly Baker and Paulette Spence who helped knock on doors and take orders for meals. May God's blessings be upon each and every one of you for your generosity! You may not always recognize angels without their wings, but their deeds give them away. I stand in awe of the angels in street clothes who showed up at the church on Wednesday and Thursday, rolled up their sleeves and dug right in to help provide those meals.

Thanks to all of you, and may God bless you richly for your service and generosity.
