Earl Dawson

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Lt. Earl Dawson, formerly of New Madrid, Mo., died Aug. 12, 2006.

Born in 1952, he was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In June 1987, he began working as police officer with Indiana State University and then completed the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. In 1995, he was promoted to the detective division of ISU; then in 1997, he was promoted to his recent position of lieutenant and supervised the Uniform Patrol Division and Community Service Officer Program.

In February 1976, he married his wife, Eva, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Kenon Dawson; his brothers-in-law and their wives, Bobby G. and Katherine Denning and Robert and Wilma Denning of Sikeston, Mo.; two nieces, Sondra Street and Courtney Street of Sikeston; and two granddaughters.

Services were conducted in Terre Haute.
