SIKESTON - The Mitchell-Sharp Chevrolet Co. this week delivered to city attorney, Robert Dempster, a new 1946 Fleetmaster Chevrolet sedan.

BENTON - Scott County citizens will have a chance to express their opinions on highway beautification, automobile insurance and higher education in a survey conducted by the University of Missouri during the rest of this month and the first week of July.


WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Department of Health, Education and Welfare has made public names of 5,568 hospitals which, as of June 11, are in compliance with laws against racial discrimination and thus eligible to participate in Medicare programs. Harold Jones, Missouri Delta administrator, said his hospital was among the ones chosen.

RISCO - Winners of the Little Farmer and Farmerette Pageant conducted May 31 at the Risco School Auditorium were Daniel Curry Presley and Mindy Lee Maddox.


PORTAGEVILLE - The Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corporation announces public hearing dates for each of the six counties it serves. The public is invited to attend the hearings to discuss needs of low income residents.

SIKESTON - As a child growing up in a family of ministers, Billie Fair knew all about the life of a Southern Baptist preacher, but she never thought she would be one. "If you'd have told me six years ago that I'd be a Southern Baptist preacher, I'd have said I was having a mid-life crisis," Fair said. But she wasn't; she was just fulfilling her calling to join the ministry. Fair was recently ordained by the First Baptist Church in Sikeston.


SIKESTON - Scott Gage recently participated in a military ceremony where he was sworn into Company C 1140th at the Sikeston Armory.
