CHARLESTON -- Ruby May Shankle, 86, died at 1:35 a.m. Sept. 10, 2006, at the Charleston Manor.

Born Feb. 16, 1920, in Truman, Ark., daughter of the late Newbern and Pearl Smith Sutherland English, she had lived most of her life in Mississippi County where she was a member of the Church of Christ in Charleston and had worked as a cook for the Inland Oil and Transport Co. until her retirement.

On April 16, 1939, she married Rex Martin Shankle who preceded her in death on Jan. 16, 2003.

One grandson, Rickey Ivie, and one son-in-law, Walter Ivie, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Martha Shankle of Charleston and Eddie and Glenda Shankle of Bertrand; three daughters and one son-in-law, Shirley Ivie of Charleston and Linda and Keith Moore and Betty Ivie of East Prairie; one sister, Doris Hodges of Cherry Valley, Ark.; and 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-

grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Bill Bradley, minister of the Morley Church of Christ, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Larry Ivie, Phillip Sullivan, Eddie Shankle Jr., Tommy Shankle, Ken Shankle and James Shankle.
