DEXTER -- Elsie James, 86, died Aug. 5, 2008, in the Missouri Southern Healthcare.

Born Oct. 13, 1921, in Benton, to the late Charles and Minnie Hampton Dozier, she was a member of the Essex First Baptist Church.

She married Ross B. James in Piggot, Ark., and he died June 20, 2004.

Also preceding her in death were: two brothers, Robert Dozier and Jim Dozier; and four sisters, Dorothy Cannon, Floy Kirkpatrick, Hazel Manley and Thelma Clark.

Survivors include: three sons, Stephen James of Fredericktown, Thomas James of Dexter and John James of Montgomery City; one daughter, Judith Boyle of Dexter; and 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. O.H. Brooks will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
