Piano lab

Dear Mollie and Michael Jensen, Thank you for publishing the article. I think Mollie did an excellent job writing about the classroom piano lab. If I can ever be of help to you re: students' piano performance, just let me know. Sincerely yours, Carolyn Clinton Klein.

Don't shoot the rednecks

This is to the person that thinks a redneck is a person with a sunburned neck. That's not what a redneck is. If you watch the History Channel, you will find out what a redneck really is. Back in the early 1900s in the coal mines of Virginia, the coal mine workers were feuding with the owners of the mine. It came down to shooting at each other. The workers of the mine decided that everyone should wear a red bandana so they wouldn't be confused with the mine owners and get shot. And that's where the term "redneck" comes from.

Town talk

I'm calling in regard to the nasty remark that was called in about Matthews, Mo. I live in a small town, not too far from Matthews, and I only wish the residents in our town took as much pride in our town as the residents in Matthews do. I hope all of you in Matthews ignore the uncalled for and untrue remarks that were made about your town. I've been there and I've seen it many times and wish that our town looked like yours.

Meet my mother

My mother used to tell me, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Apparently the people who call in to SpeakOut never knew my mother.

What did I say?

John McCain said last night during a campaign tele-conference that he would bring back a military draft in the United States only in the case of a 'World War III' scenario. Many Americans are fearful the U.S. government will be forced to reinstitute the draft given the prolonged Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Asked about that possibility by a potential voter in Florida during a telephone "town hall meeting," McCain said: "I don't know what would make a draft happen unless we were in an all-out World War III."

Old man McCain

I was watching CNN and saw old McCain. My God, he looks so old. I saw the wrinkles in his face and everything. And the way he was walking, he was barely getting enough energy to walk across the street. The man is old. He needs to be retired instead of trying to be a president. Thank you for letting me speak out.

God's not there

I am calling about the Root of all evil. I agree with what has been said. There's a lot of churches that you go to that are just plays and shows that you go to and there's no God there. Isn't it said in the Bible that a rich man has a less likely chance making it to Heaven because of money? You're supposed to give and give to everybody. I haven't been in church in a lot of years, but this article really spoke out to me. That's all I wanted to say.
