Young glory

The third touchdown scored for the Rams was receiver Corey Rogers (44). Thank you - great article! Glad to see some of the younger teams getting the glory.

Tanning for Heaven

In response to the Sept. 7 entry "Heaven is Black and White." I love your comment. It is so accurate and needs to be screamed along the mountain tops and valleys of every inch of this earth, but especially here in America. Christians claim to be so holier than thou but are the biggest - I mean biggest - hypocrites on the face of this earth. They live and breathe by that ancient old statement "Do as I say and not as I do." It's okay for them to be judgmental but you'll be damned if you do that same. It's okay for them to be prejudiced but you'll be damned if you disrespect a person with no melanin in their skin. They are pitiful. I pray every day that Obama becomes president and makes the much needed "change" that America is far over due for. Them "Good Old Boys" that Palin keeps speaking of, she's one of them in a skirt as is John McCain. I'm sick of presidents who ironically have the same physical appearance (that slow death look) and sick mentality of this is "White America" and everyone else is just visitors. Christopher Columbus didn't find America and the Anglo-Saxons didn't either. They just came here and took over everything just as they are doing now in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere else that let's them infiltrate. But they're Christians. Christians aren't bullies, liars, thieves, nor do they put themselves above the next man. They are God fearing and love all people just the same as the higher power they serve loves them. It's so sad though because people of color (be they Black, Latino, Asian, etc.) are so despicable to them yet. They (White America) pay top dollar and/or lay in the beaming hot sun to "brown" their skin like ours. Seems to me like we are the blessed ones and they are just trying to make sure they blend in enough to get inside the right gates when Jesus comes knocking! Good luck and God bless.

Work and taxes

Mike, Here is some fodder that you might want to use with an editorial during the campaign. All this data is from the Department of Treasury. As you know, the Dems are promoting class warfare and really want to tax the "rich." In 2006, after the Bush tax cuts went into effect, the top one percent earners paid 40 percent of the federal income tax; and the top 25 percent of the income earners paid 86 percent of the income tax. So if you want them to pay less, increase the income tax on these income producers and they will work less, earn less and tax shelter their money. During the Carter administration, when there was a "high" tax on the rich, they only paid 19 percent of the federal income tax with regard to the capital gain tax. Once Bush signed that cut into law in 2005, revenue from the cap gain tax increased 152 percent. And in that year, 79 percent of the cap gain fillers had incomes of $100,000 or less. So again, if the government raises the cap gain tax then revenue from that tax will decrease because income tax filers will start holding their investments so they do not have to pay the higher tax.

Culture wars

As I have been seeing this election unfold, I find a troubling trend developing. John McCain and Sarah Palin are appearing together like a couple. The campaign figured out they couldn't win on issues. Therefore, the campaign has resulted to the culture wars. If you watched the RN, they started to make the case that Obama is urban (cosmopolitan). They mocked community organizing. If you think of community organizers you think of Al Sharpton. Now you will hear of small town values contrasting to make Obama to seem that he is not like you. They did the same to Kerry in '04. Dog whistle politics - wink, wink - he is a black politician. The reason they are campaigning together, they are made to seem as a couple who could be in the White House. Saying, "Aren't we a little more like you than the Democrats?" Even though they have nothing in common with your interest with government, hinting around at, who do you want this black man from Chicago or this white woman from small town Alaska? It is obvious the Republicans have turned this election from issues to the culture wars again. Do you want this couple (Palin and McCain) or Barack and Michelle is what the campaign is asking. What I find amusing is that the people falling for it are the ones that whose issues with the government is not in the McCain-Palin interest. Then again if they vote them in office, the voters deserve what they will get, just like they have deserved what they have gotten with Bush. They suck you in on social issues and when they get in office they pull the rug out from underneath you. How many times do you have to get hit over the head before, you realize who the ones are that are hitting you over the head. The McCain campaign which is run by Rove students and eight Washington lobbyists are going to make this campaign about their best interest and not the common man. The dog whistle politics - wink, wink. It is smart but I'm not sure I like it.

Tan and hide

I would like to know if the people that paid for tanning packages at T-N-T tanning are going to get their money back? As a lot of people know, they just closed their doors with no warning. How can business owners do that - take your money then close their doors? Isn't that fraud? So, if anyone may have any idea who their former owners are, please speakout, because if they did this once they could do it again. Don't be a victim.
