Lady Bearcats drop first conference game of the season

BELL CITY -- In varsity volleyball, the Bell City Lady Cubs snagged a victory from the Dexter Lady Bearcats on Thursday evening. In two sets the Lady Bearcats fell 25-20 and 25-12 to Bell City.

"Needless to say, I'm disappointed in tonight's loss against Bell City," said Dexter head coach Kris Vandeven. "We expected them to be tough, but we just didn't bring our best game. We lacked fire and intensity, and that's what we've been struggling with throughout the season."

"If you're not getting fired up for a game and getting intense, then you're just not going to win," she added. "Hopefully we'll meet up with the Bell City Lady Cubs again in the conference tournament, and maybe the game will have a different outcome."

Jessica Satterfield had seven kills, two digs and two assists, Brittany Bedford had eight digs and Cathryn Heil had one kill, eight digs, one block and six assists in the loss. Kayla Joyner chipped in with six digs and an assist.

The Lady Bearcats are now 9-4-1 and are 4-1 in the conference.
