Shirting the issue

I see KFVS is doing more free publicity for the Obama campaign with the lady being turned away at the poll for wearing an Obama sweatshirt. We've always been turned away at the polls at our precincts for having on any kind of a campaign T-shirt. We've always been told to turn them inside out or change our shirt before we've been allowed to go in and vote. That's always happened so why does she think she's any different?

Adios America

All you people that want to vote Republican, you're not doing nothing but cutting your own throats, especially the working people. The economy was down when Clinton was in. If you don't believe me, look it up on the computer and look at the charts. If McCain gets in, I'm not only going to be moving out of Sikeston, I'm going to be moving out of the United States where they have free healthcare. There's no reason why we can't have it - we're the only country that don't have it. Only greedy rich people want to control this country. Adios, America.

Had enough

I will gladly declare myself a Conservative. I agree 100 percent with the caller who was upset with Congresswoman JoAnn Emerson's vote on the bail out. She did not have the voice to call for an investigation on how the mortgage companies got into this mess in the first place or even if they needed the $700 billion. I have voted for Bill Emerson and JoAnn Emerson from the very first. Now we need a change in our Representative in Congress. I've had enough!

Hot about buns

To the What a weenie person. I know there is more than one store that we can buy hotdog buns from. I'm sorry about your cookout, but why be so ugly about it by blaming the Obama campaigners. Do they not have a right to eat and get bread where they want? I'm for neither, but thanks for making my decision for me. I think I'll vote for Obama, at least he does consider people's feelings. I can't wait until this is over so people can stop being so ugly and disrespectful to others. McCain doesn't care about the average people or other people's feelings. Thanks for helping make my decision. This election has brought out the hatred in good people. There is more than one store in Sikeston that has hotdog buns!

I'm rubber, you're glue

For the justifiable vote person, why must we go name calling? How do you know it wasn't kids? I have seeing kids getting out of school, kicking and pulling all kinds of signs up out of people's yards. Why be so ugly and disrespectful? Again, this election has a terrible affect on people. It don't matter who you vote for, even if it is not the right person. But Obama didn't tell whoever it was to get your sign. It justifies who I'll vote for because unlike McCain, I care. Obama cares. I want change. Some of us don't care who's president, because all that matters is who can do the job. I hate to say it but McCain did say "the reason some people are voting for me and not Senator Obama is because of his color." Maybe ths is the case. I was raised up different! Were you and the others that's for McCain because of color? This is an issue. I want change.

Chickens in the barnyard

I certainly hope that all the people that are supporting Barack Obama get their wish. Because after four years of Mr. Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid all "leading" our country, I doubt I will see another Democrat as president in my life time. Mr. Obama has certainly had a nice play on words during this campaign. He says that he is not going to raise your taxes if you make below $250,000. Well this is simply not true. As soon as the Bush tax cuts expire many people making below the $250,000 will see a tax increase. With the tax plan Mr. Obama has proposed over 100 million people will not pay any taxes and actually receive a tax credit. This is not right. How does he plan on paying for this? Will we have to borrow more money from overseas? Every four years we hear the same thing: "Democrats are for the working man." Well, to many people who can see past the rhetoric realize that this has been a false statement for many years. All you have to do is look at just about every major city in America where Democrats have been in control. Detroit and the state of Michigan are perfect examples. They have ruined not only a great city, but a great state as well. This happens when you put too high of a tax burden on the companies and small businesses that provide all the jobs. The Democrats say they want everyone to have a chance at the American dream. What kind of motivation is it to have the government take your hard earned money and give it to people that have no motivation at all? Why would you want to pursue the American dream? Hey Democrats, you have done a great job of keeping all the chickens in the barnyard where they know they will be fed without having to go get their own food. I could go on all day, but I have to go back to work! I really wish the people would see through all the BULL!

If you wear it, well. . .

All voters, listen up. We're all anxious to vote next week. But, there is a rule about voting that many people don't know. We're not allowed to wear anything that shows how we're going to vote. That means no shirts, no pins, no stickers, no hats, nothing with any candidate's name, picture or slogan. People who break this rule will be turned away and NOT allowed to vote. They'll be told to remove any of these items and then return to vote. So, leave all your campaign stuff at home or in your car, or wear a coat that completely covers it. It sounds like a pretty silly rule, but I called the County Clerk's office, and that's what they told me.

Don't give America away

I am not a regular caller here, but time to vote is getting near and I feel the need to get this off my chest. I have voted Democratic most of my adult years, as did my parents and grandparents before me, but not this time. How can I in good conscience vote for a man who I cannot consider a good American? He was raised for part of his life as a Muslim. Their belief is to eliminate all enemies and infidels. We (Americans) are considered just that. He will not take the oath of the highest office in our country, on a Bible. Our nation was built on our belief in God. He wants to remove the flag of our land off Air Force One, the official plane of the President and replace it will the symbol you see at all his political offices. Please remember how many of our forefathers fought for and are still fighting to defend. He attended a church for 20 years with a pastor who hates all America stands for and said he did not realize that. Twenty years, how observant is that? Do we really want someone in office who seems to be blind to what is around him? His wife said on national TV that for the first time in her adult life that she was finally proud of America. Where was she during the rest of her life? I have always been proud to be an American and never thought of ever living anywhere else. Even when I didn't agree with everything that happened during the terms of others in that high office, not one time was I ever not proud to be an American. I still hold my hand over my heart and stand with my head held high during the Star Bangled Banner and may shed a silent tear when I pledge allegiance to my flag. If you want to still enjoy the rights and freedoms you now have, please vote for a man who has fought for those rights, who believes in the American way. Don't give America away, vote John McCain.

Take that, Garfield

The federal income tax does redistribute wealth in various ways. It always has. However, the unique thing about Barack Obama is that he wants to repeal the Bush tax cuts for the super rich (something McCain also favored until he didn't favor it) and use the money to help the middle class. Socialism for the wealthy is on the way out and that's why the fat cats are so frightened.
