Nov. 16, 1948

SIKESTON - Mrs. Leonard Schumacher entertained Saturday with a party for her daughter, Charlotte Sue, who celebrated her sixth birthday.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. John Langston are parents of a boy born today. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Barger of Sikeston are parents of a daughter born today.

Nov. 16, 1968

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Housing Authority is receiving bids for the construction of 75 housing units for elderly persons and a community center, Billy C. Hanna, director said today. The project is expected to be completed next year.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycees Tree of Lights campaign to collect money to buy needy children toys, candy and fruit for Christmas will be lighted Dec. 1, according to Chairman Frank Harp.

SIKESTON - Mickey Mouse and other Walt Disney characters greeted guests including Lindsay Leible, daughter of Chuck and Terri Leible, at H.R.H. Dumplin's Friday when the Sikeston restaurant celebrated Mickey's 60th birthday.

Nov. 16, 1998

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety reported a felony stealing incident at The Diamond Shop, located at 1627 E. Malone. According to DPS, four diamond rings were stolen, valued at $7,700. The theft occurred Thursday between 3 and 5:30 p.m. when an unknown person stole the rings from a display case.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Army National Guard 2nd Lt. Murray E. Phillips has graduated from the chaplain officer basic course at the U.S. Army Chaplain Center and School in Fort Jackson. He is the son of Virginia M. Pauley of Sikeston and Amos M. Phillips of Charleston.
