SIKESTON -- Grinches are out in Sikeston.

Over the weekend, the Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to several burglaries and break-ins at residences and businesses in town. Also, some cars were broken into in the Kennedy Street area over the weekend, according to the incident reports.

"It's minor things being stolen," said Capt. John Martin of DPS. For instance, a cell phone, camera and pair of shoes were stolen from one home.

In many cases, entry was forced. However, Martin urged people to remember to close their blinds when not at home and to be sure to lock their vehicles and leave any valuables in their trunk or out of plain view.
