Religious leaders reflect on tragic event, impact of church shooting

SIKESTON -- Local religious leaders say the recent shooting of an Illinois church's senior pastor has heightened awareness of a new danger, but it won't stop them from spreading God's word.

In Maryville, Ill., the Rev. Fred Winters was shot through the heart during the March 8 early service at First Baptist by Terry Sedlacek of Troy, Ill. Sedlacek is accused of striding into the church and firing four shots at the pastor. He is also charged for wounding two other churchgoers.
