Cheering standouts: Five SHS seniors will cheer in college

Sunday, May 17, 2009

SIKESTON -- Many Sikeston High School seniors will be off to college this coming fall, but five young ladies will have a bit more on their plate than just classes and tests.

Former Sikeston cheerleaders Arianne MacGillivray, Ashley Angle, Abbi Keefer, Kortney Cook and Kacie Evans will all be members of college cheerleading squads this fall.

MacGillivray, Angle and Keefer will all head to the University of Missouri-Columbia, while Evans will head west to Springfield and Missouri State University and Cook north to Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal.

All the girls were members of the 2007, 2008, and 2009 Missouri Cheerleading Coaches Association Class 4 Large Championship teams, with MacGillivray serving as 2009 head cheerleader.

The girls follow in the footsteps of 2008 graduate Brittany Jenkins, who just finished her first year cheering for the Mississippi State University Bulldogs in Starkville, Miss.
