Highway reconstruction

Thursday, July 2, 2009

Iron Mountain Construction of Maryland Heights works on a complete reconstruction of the northbound lanes of I-57 at the Highway 105 interchange at Charleston. According to Missouri Department of Transportation officials, the reconstruction project includes completely tearing out the old roadway and replacing it with 18 inches of rockfill and 10 inches of concrete. This half-mile stretch, which runs just south of the offramp to just north of the overpass, is part of a larger project which includes short sections of 8-inch concrete overlays and other complete reconstruction sections from Route 62 to the Mississippi River bridge. The highway project is slated for completion by the end of November.
