SIKESTON-- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs volleyball team will look to young talent in their quest to rebound from last year's five win season.

Last season marked the first time the Lady Bulldogs had not been .500 in the regular season in head coach Steve Beydler's tenure.

"Our girls know that this cannot happen again. This is not like us," Beydler said. "We struggled last year finding our identity and finding leadership. It was a tough year."

Beydler noted that a strong incoming group of players and solid off season could propel Sikeston to success this year.

"I see a lot of promise in the freshmen and sophomores we having coming out for the first time this year," he said. "We had a great off-season with a lot of camps. We had solid participation in both our summer programs and girls coming out to play this fall all the way from seventh grade up.

"I think we are turning back around in the right direction. I think last year was just an anomaly."
