Despite ruling, prayer event will continue

Day was created in 1952 but was ruled unconstitutional in April

SIKESTON -- Despite a federal judge's recent ruling the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional, the celebration will continue in Sikeston this year.

The annual event sponsored by the Sikeston Kiwanis Club will begin at 6:30 a.m. Thursday with a citywide breakfast at the First Christian Church and followed by a prayer-led celebration at 7 a.m.
