Luisa Boschan

School: Chaffee High School

Year: Junior

Season recap: As a foreign exchange student from Berlin, Germany, Luisa Boschan became Chaffee's fourth individual state champion when she finished first in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:20.19 at the 2010 Class 1 MSHSAA Track & Field State Championships. Boschan's second place finish in the 3,200 meter run as well as her third place effort in the 800-meter was a huge contribution to the Lady Devil's third place finish as a team. However, Boschan's most memorable moment would be a third place finish in the 4x800 relay in which she caught and beat three competitors as Chaffee's anchor.

Boschan's comments: "That was just awesome. I got the baton and I said 'I really want to catch these girls.' I just wanted to give everything I had and when I caught them. I was so excited and we were all crying. We all got third in state, but I think we wanted to do better. I still thought third at state was pretty awesome. It was so much fun at all the meets and when I think about this season I'm just proud of everybody and I just think about how much fun it was. When I think back, I just had an awesome time with everything."

Coach's comments: "She's just so strong. She'd just run and she wouldn't even get tired. It's just amazing. That was fun to watch because you don't see a lot of kids like that in any class, especially Class 1. It was nice knowing your going to get 10 points out of her events. It makes it even better that she's a great person. She's a good kid and she's just fun to be around. It's been fun. A lot of fun and we're going to miss her." -- Chaffee's Tyson Moyers.
