Stephanie Essner * Scott City

2009-2010 Standard Democrat Female Athlete of the Year

Stephanie Essner has been surrounded by success during her four years at Scott City High School.

Every year has been a forward progression, as the class of 2010 has been through possibly the most prosperity a senior class has ever been through in the schools history.

And it's not a coincidence that Essner has been right in the middle of it.

The 5-foot, 7-inch Scott City graduate has been the glue that held numerous Lady Rams teams together, including a state championship volleyball team, a district winning basketball team and a track squad that she found herself anchoring for most of her career.

"I have been not so much the leader, but I was the one who helped people along the way," Essner said. "I was always picking people up. I don't have a best friend, I have 89 good friends. I definitely loved this class."
