Three injured in accident on I-55

NEW MADRID -- Three people were injured Friday in a three-vehicle accident in New Madrid County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. one-half mile north of New Madrid. Fortino Valdez, 60, of Chicago was southbound on Interstate 55 when he lost control of his vehicle due to tire failure. The vehicle overturned and slid into the path of the northbound vehicle driven by Trent S. Rhodes, 55, of Henderson, Tenn., and the northbound motorcycle driven by James H. Bracey, 50, of Portageville.
