POPLAR BLUFF -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldog tennis team lost a tough 6-3 decision to Poplar Bluff on Thursday afternoon.

Sikeston received singles wins from senior Jacarra Lampkin and sophomore Kelsey Dial. Lampkin defeated Taylor Worley 8-0 while Dial downed Emily Gilmore 8-1.

"Our No. 1 and No. 2 were our bright spots," Sikeston coach Russ Dial said of Lampkin and Dial. "They've started the season like they left off last year -- hot."

Lampkin and Dial teamed to beat Worley and Marissa McLane in doubles 8-5 for Sikeston's only other win.

"Overall, it was a tough match for us," said Dial. "Our three through six ranked players made a lot of technical mistakes that lead to many unforced errors.

"However those technicalities are correctable with minor adjustments."
