Charleston shooting: Two are arrested for the murder

CHARLESTON -- Two Charleston men have been charged with the Wednesday shooting death of a Hayti man.

Javon C. Jones, 18, and Timothy A. Wiley, 30, both of Charleston are charged with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon for the murder of 22-year-old Justine Wright of Hayti.

About 11 p.m. Wednesday, Charleston Department of Public Safety officers received a call that a man had been shot in the 700 block of Gail Street. Upon their arrival, officers found Wright, sitting in his car with several gunshot sounds. Wright was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Early Thursday, Charleston DPS and Missouri State Highway Patrol officers took Jones and Wiley into custody for their suspected involvement in Wright's murder. Both men are being held in the Mississippi County Jail with no bond.
