Workers with the Sikeston Board of Municipal Utilities prepare to pump water away from businesses at the South Point Shopping Center early today. Around 1:11 a.m., the Sikeston Department of Public Safety was called to 1215 S. Main in reference to a water hydrant being hit. Officials said an 18-wheeler making a deliver hit the water hydrant and knocked it over, breaking the 12-inch water main. According to the incident report, an arrest was made for the driver leaving the scene of the accident. No further information was available as of press time.
