Delta girls claim title with win over SCC

DELTA -- The Delta Lady Bobcats clinched the Scott-Mississippi regular-season conference title on Senior Night with a 62-35 win over Scott Central.

Tori Burton paced Delta (16-9) with 22 points and 17 rebounds, while Machela VanGennip added 16 points.

Senior Samantha Bartels had 15 points and seven steals, while senior Rachel Bartels added three points for the victors.

Daisy Gillespie paced the Bravettes with 19 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

SENATH -- The Risco Tigers put four players in double figures and earned a 79-39 road win over Senath-Hornersville on Thursday night.

Luke Bixler led the Tigers (16-7) with 19 points while Jeremy Fowler added 15, Chris Pavy scored 12 and Kris Walker ended with 10 points.

"Our defense was a lot better in the second half," Risco coach Brandon Blankenship said. "We came out with intentions of focusing more on the defensive end."
