SHS softball loses to Jackson 14-3

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs softball team fell 14-3 to Jackson on Tuesday.

Jackson pounded out 24 hits in the contest, which included three doubles.

Sikeston's Madison Chaney went 2 for 4 while Sydney King added a double.

The Lady Bulldogs scored the games first three runs in the first inning but gave up their lead in the fourth when Jackson broke the 3-3 tie with two runs.

Jackson scored nine more in the last three innings.

Sikeston travels to Fredericktown today.

Kelly softball thumps Lady Mules

KELLY -- Picking up their 11th win of the season on Tuesday, the Kelly Lady Hawks defeated the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules 11-1 in six innings on the mercy rule.

With a five-run rally in the second inning Kelly took the early lead before going up 6-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth. There, the Lady Hawks put up another five-run inning to secure the win.

Going all six innings, Kristy Brucker picked up the win allowing six hits and striking out six without surrendering a walk.

Racking up 17 hits on the contest, the Lady Hawks were led by Marissa Menz, Stephanie Worth and Jessica Worth as each collected three hits in the contest, including a triple by Menz and a double by Stephanie Worth.

Sydney Vinyard, Brucker and Samantha Ratledge had two hits apiece with Vinyard doubling and Brucker driving in a pair of runs.

Now at 11-5, Kelly will host Perryville today at 4 p.m.

Chaffee softball defeats Delta 15-5

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee Lady Devils defeated the visiting Delta Lady Bobcats 15-5 in five innings on Tuesday.

Chaffee cranked out five extra base hits including two triples from Cierra Crites and Sierra Miller. Crites, Adrienne Eichhorn and Taylor Fodge added doubles to their team total of 11 hits as well.

Kaitlin McFerren picked up the win for the Lady Devils (7-11).

Jackson volleyball downs SHS

JACKSON -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs volleyball team lost in two sets to the Jackson Lady Indians on Tuesday in Jackson.

Jackson took the first set 25-9 and the second set 25-17.

NMCC volleyball falls to Cape Central

CAPE GIRARDEAU -- New Madrid County Central lost in two sets to Cape Central on Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles kept up with Cape Central in the first set, 25-20, but took a turn in the second with a 25-12 loss.

Dexter tennis rolls past Notre Dame

DEXTER -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats tennis team took care of the Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday, 8-1.

Risco baseball easily defeats Southland

SOUTHLAND -- The Risco Tigers easily dispatched of the Southland Rebels 9-0 on Tuesday behind a complete game victory from Caleb McCord.

McCord threw all seven innings and allowed just one hit in the win. He also struck out nine.

Chris Pavy hit a solo home run in the first inning and finished with two hits and two RBIs. Matt Cumins had three hits and two RBIs while Jordan Pavy and Luke Bixler added two hits as well.

Austin White chipped in two RBIs and a double.

"We had good defense which is two games in a row where we've been very solid," Risco coach Brandon Blankenship said. "I'm excited to see that."

The Tigers (8-8) will host Delta C-7 on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
