Sikeston set to add new outdoor warning sirens

SIKESTON -- Public safety officials have come up with a way to transition to a new outdoor emergency warning system.

During a special meeting Monday, the Sikeston City Council approved the purchase of two new outdoor warning sirens from the low bidder, Outdoor Warning Consulting of Jefferson City.

Drew Juden, director of the Sikeston Department of Public Safety, said the transitional system will make use of four of the city's current storm warning sirens by disabling their rotation and pointing them in the direction needed to provide the city with full coverage.
