Winter champions

Holly Dirnberger of Cape Girardeau uses a one-armed throw to toss partner Derek Lewis of Cape Girardeau in the blackbelt division of hapkido form competition Saturday during the Moo Sul Kwan Winter Championships. Over 140 martial artists ages 3 and up competed in martial art events such as taekwondo form, board breaking and point sparring. Competitors came from as far as St. Louis to compete in the annual tournament held in the Scott County Central gymnasium. In addition to competing, students from the Sikeston Moo Sul Kwan also performed a demonstration. Dirnberger and Lewis placed first in the event.
