CHARLESTON -- Facing infrastructure repairs and flat revenues, the Mississippi County Commissioners approved a conservative budget during a special meeting Monday.

Total revenues for the county's 35 funds are projected at $7,247,568.99 with $7,953,314.34 in budgeted expenditures for a total operating deficit of $705,745.35 in 2012.

County Clerk Junior DeLay noted in his budget message, however, that as total expenditures include interfund transfers of $703,722.22, the actual budgeted operating deficit is only 2,023.13.
